For reference use: I’m 5’8”, 280, 50H bra size, long torso, long arms with thick upper arms, wide shoulders, inseam 33to 34”, big butt and thick thighs. Size 22/24 jeans depending on style, brand and how much they stretch. I’m round but long at the same time if that makes sense.First of all I absolutely hate having to look for a winter coat. I haven’t had a real winter coat in years. I have just layered light zippered thin hoodies over sweatshirts and t-shirts with a big cardigan sweater over everything else if it was really cold. Always looked sloppy and rarely did anything match in any sort of way. But it did the trick and kept me warm when taking dogs out. If I had to go into town or anywhere when something neat and casual was needed I just grabbed one of my nicer thicker cardigans. Not much warmth if a cold winter wind was blowing but better than nothing. I took a chance on this coat and ordered the red in size 5X because the reviews were so good. I’m so happy I did. I’m a big girl, tall, 5’8”, with wide shoulders and thick arms and big breasts. Everything I have ever ordered in the past or tried on at the stores (lost cause) was always either too short, too tight across the chest, too tight on the arms as well as sleeves well above my wrists before raising my arms, and/or shoulders so tight I couldn’t move. The body of the coats would look like I was wearing a barrel around my midriff. Not only the problems with the sizing but the material used was always cheap with horrible zippers that would not function properly most of the time. Buttons that were cheap thin plastic and the craftsmanship was even worse.This coat has to be one of the best coats I have ever tried on. Craftsmanship and the quality of the fabrics used are excellent. When I tried it on I actually laughed out loud with absolute delight. The shoulders were perfect with plenty of space in the armpits for great mobility. Even if I choose to wear a thick sweatshirt or sweater underneath. The body of the coat has a drawstring on the inside which is great for giving it a little shape to avoid the “barrel” look. The sleeve length is perfect. Maybe a little long for some but for my long arms it was a delightful treat. The pockets are just wonderful icing on the cake. The zipper seems to be sewn in well and of very good quality not those thin kind that are seemingly made of tinfoil. The buttons are large and easy to use, very sturdy and sewn on good and tight. The seams and hems are all very well done. The lining is nice and warm without being so thick you feel like you’re suffocating. I went over the coat turning it inside out and did not find one loose thread or seam in the entire coat.The detachable hood is also very well constructed. It is actually a very usable hood and not so ridiculously big it covers your face so you can’t see a thing in front of you. This hood actually fits the head and will definitely keep your ears and the back of your neck warm. The outer shell is very nice, tightly woven but still soft. Definitely feels pretty water resistant. Not waterproof but will definitely repel a good amount of moisture. I’m going to spray it with some water repellent to make it a bit more resistant to water. All of that said, I love this coat. It feels like it will last a long time with the proper care. I bought the red one. It’s a dark red. Definitely red not burgundy or wine color. I love this coat so much and was so impressed with the quality I just purchased the beige one as well. Im so hoping that it will be just as well made as my red one. I hope this helps someone with choosing their size.
